Dragons Den Counseling
Services and Fees
During individual sessions we will utilize your interests in gaming, movies, anime, shows, comics, and science fiction to address personal challenges. Through the exploration of themes and characters, you will develop effective coping strategies, enhance self-awareness, and build confidence, ultimately improving your overall mental health and well-being.
During the session, we might incorporate video games, board games while we talk. We also might watch clips of shows, anime, or movies and discuss how that relates to your situation. We can also have a traditional therapy session. Ultimately we are here to help you become unstuck and help you make meaningful changes in your life.

Out-of-network benefits
Dragon’s Den Counseling is not paneled with any insurance plans but can offer you what’s called, “out of network benefits” (OONB).
I am able to provide you an invoice of services called a Superbill that you can submit to your insurance.
Reimbursement by a Superbill is entirely dependent on your insurance benefits and I will have to provide a mental health diagnosis on the superbill in order for you to receive reimbursement. This diagnosis will become part of your permanent mental health record.
Not everyone has this as part of their benefits package so please call your healthcare plan and ask these questions:
Do I have out-of-network benefits?
What percentage of my therapist’s fee does my plan pay for?
TTRPG social skills groups for teens and adults are therapeutic groups where a therapist facilitates tabletop RPGs like Dungeons & Dragons to practice social skills and mental health goals. Through the lens of D&D, we tackle real-life issues like anxiety, depression, social skills, and self-esteem. My approach combines evidence-based therapy techniques with the creative, collaborative aspects of tabletop gaming.
Through role-play, a client can create aesthetic distance between themselves and their character by which they can practice setting boundaries, social skills, and engaging in community in the safe microcosm of our homebrew fantasy worlds. Even in personal games run just for fun, there is a common occurrence colloquially known as bleed where aspects of real-life inform the game, or vice-versa.
Tabletop role-playing games offer a unique and powerful avenue for individuals to explore their biases, coping mechanisms, and reactions to events in a safe and controlled environment. By assuming the role of a character in a fictional world, players can delve into complex social dynamics and confront personal challenges in a constructive and introspective manner. These games provide an opportunity to examine how we interpret and navigate different situations, shedding light on our subconscious biases and reactions. Through these insights, we can better understand ourselves, identify areas for growth, and ultimately seek ways to improve our lives. By immersing ourselves in imaginative narratives, tabletop role-playing games offer a powerful and therapeutic outlet for personal exploration, reflection, and transformation.
We run groups for ages 11-17 as well as adult groups for ages 18+.
Our groups are 2 hours long with 1.5 hours consisting of a check in and game time and the last 30 minutes consisting of group processing where we discuss the events of the game as well as identifying the skills used in session and how these skills can be implemented into real life situations.
If you are interested please reach out to see if our groups would be a good fit for you or your child.
